Marsala: Pantone's Colour of the Year

Pantone has just named its new Colour of the Year for 2015. Marsala is a brown-hued wine red that is rich and sophisticated. While it is quite a bold colour, it should be easy to incorporate it into your kitchen décor in the coming year.

Radiant Orchid
Last year, Pantone picked a bright purple shade named Radiant Orchid as its 2014 Colour of the Year. It was a beautiful shade but not the most versatile colour for home décor.

Kitchen Accents
To incorporate Marsala into your kitchen décor, it is as simple as adding a few small accents. Whether you have a dark or light kitchen décor scheme, Marsala should fit right in. Unlike Radiant Orchid, we feel that Marsala is quite easy to incorporate into your kitchen space. Radiant Orchid was quite a bright colour, which could be seen as quite intrusive in some kitchens. However, Marsala is a bit more demure and modest.

You can find plenty of small accents in the Marsala shade. Candle holders and seat cushions are a great way to incorporate the colour into your home décor, and they are relatively inexpensive. New curtains, tea towels and artificial flowers are also great options. Black and Decker has even made a Marsala-coloured coffee maker. We anticipate that it will be a best seller during the January sales.

Winter or Spring?
Why not both! Whereas Radiant Orchid was more of a summer and spring shade, Marsala seems to be a colour that will look great all year around. So, you can purchase some Marsala accents for your kitchen without worrying about the changing seasons.
