The infamous UK weather means that the traditional method of drying clothes outside isn’t always possible. In fact, between the frost of winter months and rain which seems to be a 12 month a year phenomenon, we often have little option but to use a trusty tumble dryer. One of the biggest worries that families have about this machine is the amount of energy it uses. We promise you that no ‘G’ rated tumble dryers ever appear in our stores. A ‘G’ rated machine uses twice as much energy as an ‘A’ rated machine. When you visit our store, you will have two main choices: A condenser tumble dryer or a vented tumble dryer. Our condenser models dry your clothes by taking air from within the machine’s drum, heating it and blowing this air through the clothes as they are spun around the dryer. The air, which is filled with moisture at this stage, goes through the heat exchanger and the water re-condenses. All our condenser tumble dryer models have a built-in tray which collects the water and is easily removed. This model generally dries clothes quickly but can use more energy than its vented counterpart. A vented tumble dryer releases steam through a hose which can be passed out of a window or through a wall vent. If you choose this option, we urge you to ensure that there is a suitable outlet position for the vent before making the purchase. Costs are lower than with condenser tumble dryers but it will not dry the clothes as fast. We stock both types of dryer and sell all the top brands such as Whirlpool, Hoover, Zanussi and Hotpoint.
