Buying new kitchen appliances can be a big investment, so you want to ensure that your products last as long as possible. Here are a few tips to help you keep your kitchen appliances in great working order for years to come.

Refrigerators

Clean the door seals regularly. One of the major reasons that refrigerators require replacing or repairs is an inability to shut properly. To prevent this from happening, keep your door seals clean.

Clean behind and underneath the appliance. Coils at the back and the bottom of the fridge keep the cool air flowing through the appliance effectively. So, if you find that your fridge does not get as cool as it usually does, cleaning the coils may help. Ensure that you do this often to keep your appliance running smoothly at all times.

Allow for adequate space. Fridges require several inches of space between the appliance and the wall. If you have installed your refrigerator in a tight area, it may overheat. So, ensure that the wall is at least two to three inches away from the fridge.

Dishwasher

Clean the filter. The filter that traps food particles can get clogged easily, which may hinder the effectiveness of your dishwasher. So, be sure to clean it regularly.

Rinse out mineral deposits. The holes through which water flows into your dishwater can attract a build-up of mineral deposits. To prevent these deposits from damaging your dishwasher, rinse the water holes often.

Cooker and Hob

Avoid aluminium. While you may use aluminium while cooking a wide range of dishes, this is not the best practice from a technical standpoint. It can alter the oven’s normal heat levels, which may result in meals that are not properly cooked.

Keep the surface clean. On electric and induction hobs, it is important for the surfaces to stay clean. A build-up of grease and good particles can result in disappointing cooking results and damage the appliance over time. Be sure to wipe them down after every use.

Have you noticed a trend? Often times, the key to maintaining the lifespan of your kitchen appliances boils down to regular cleaning. While doing your tidy of the kitchen, be sure to pay careful attention to your kitchen appliances, ensuring that you clean them inside and out.
