One of the latest trends in kitchen organisation and design is dividing the room into work zones. By doing this, it helps to streamline the cooking and cleaning process to help save you time in the kitchen. Here are a few helpful tips to get your kitchen organised into useful work zones.

Cleaning Zone

The cleaning zone should be situated near the appliance that you use to do the washing up, whether that is the sink or the dishwasher. Ensure that you store your dishes as close to this zone as possible. Your plates, glasses and bowls should be located in a cabinet just below or above your washing up appliance. This will take the hassle out of putting the dishes away after cooking.

Preparation Zone

This kitchen zone should be located as close to the hob as possible. So, when it comes to transferring your ingredients into your pots and pans, there is not a long way to travel. It would also help if your prep zone is situated near your refrigerator with the non-perishable cupboard located just above it. Items that should go in your prep zone include; cutting boards, knives, cheese grater and spices.

Cooking Zone

Your cooking zone will contain the kitchen appliance that is responsible for most of the cooking in your home. Whether that is the microwave, the hob or the slow cooker. It should contain every item that you will likely need when cooking various meals in your home. Items that should go in your cooking zone are; wooden spoons, colanders, tongs and pots.
