The Perfect Finish to Your Dream Kitchen

A good cooker hood doesn’t just look stylish, it helps to remove steam and odours from your kitchen, keep the air clean and fresh, and reduce condensation in the room. Alongside the practical uses of a cooker hood, they allow you to bring style to your kitchen.

Types of Cooker Hoods

  • Extraction Cooker Hoods

    Externally vented cooker hoods use ducts to transfer air from the kitchen to the outside. The grease filters in an extraction hood shouldn’t need replacing but you will need to clean them periodically. You will need space to fit the ducting in order to accommodate external extraction.

  • Recirculation Cooker Hoods

    Recirculation hoods rely on charcoal filters to trap moisture and grease and reduce the presence of odours in the air. These are easier to install because there’s no outside ducting, but you will need to replace these filters periodically.

  • Integrated Solutions

    Thanks to our extensive range of kitchen extractor fans, hoods and other kitchen appliances, we can provide a fully integrated hood system that seamlessly fits into your kitchen. It’s the ideal solution for new builds or updates on kitchens and helps to make the room look modern. Integrated cooker hoods also draw attention away from the appliance and to the overall look of the room, making them the best choice for subtle, but effective air filtering.

  • Island Cooker Hoods

    Island cooker hoods are designed to suit the more specific requirements of island countertops and cookers. Designed to be fitted as a ceiling extractor fan, they provide a filtering and extraction system right where you need it. We have island cooker hoods in stunning modern designs to suit the aesthetic of a contemporary kitchen.

Who can Fit a Cooker Hood?

The UK doesn't require a license to install cooker hoods, although it's always better to rely on a professional if you're unsure of the process. You'll most likely need an electrician to connect the cooker hood and extraction fan to the electricity mains. For insurance purposes, you'll also need to have your cooker hood signed off by a licensed electrician. Cooker hoods play a large role in removing indoor pollution while cooking, so professional installation isn't something that should be overlooked.

What are Cooker Hoods used for?

Cooker hoods are integral to keeping indoor cooking pollution from staying in your house. They do this in two ways, depending on the type of cooker hood you have;

  • Extraction hoods: Externally vented cooker hoods use ducts to transfer air from the kitchen outside. The grease filters in an extraction hood shouldn’t need replacing but you will need to clean them periodically. You will need space to fit the ducting in order to accommodate the external extraction.

  • Recirculation hoods: Recirculation hoods rely on charcoal filters to trap moisture and grease, and reduce the presence of odours in the air by pushing air through filters before releasing it back into the house. These are easier to install because there’s no outside ducting, but you will need to replace these filters periodically.

This is why cooker hoods are typically situated above your hob and oven. Any smoke, gas, and steam will make its way upward toward the cooker hood, be pushed into either the extraction fan or recirculation filter and leave the air in your house smoke and smell-free.

Do Cooker Hoods need an Outside Wall?

This will depend on the type of cooker hood you plan on installing. Cooker hoods with a kitchen extraction fan will need an outside wall, while cooker hoods with recirculation filters can be placed anywhere inside.
